Randwick City Council
Residents can make submissions to Randwick City Council at any time right up until a DA is determined. To ensure full consideration by the assigned council assessment planner, iObject prescribes an additional two to three-week ‘Informal Deadline’, depending on the scale of the project in question.
If there is insufficient time to produce a detailed submission within Council’s notification period, we recommend seeking a deadline extension directly from the council officer, which iObject can negotiate on your behalf.
Submissions must address planning law considerations rather than general opposition.
Experience Highlight: RANDWICK
Amending Development Application seeking consent for an additional three (3) residential storeys resulting in an eight storey building comprising 25 residential apartments (13 additional), changes to ground floor commercial (health services) premises and basement car parking.
Address: No. 10 Blenheim Street, Randwick, NSW
Application: DA/941/2025
Services Provided: DA Deficiency Audit & Principal Objection
Impact Risks
The design attempted to benefit from Council's recent uplift in height and floor area restrictions but did not seek to improve the locality nor provide good amenity for future occupants. The design diverged from the envisioned streetscape, contributing unnecessary bulk and height as viewed from surrounding streets.
A lack of building separation would have limited future development of our Client's property as well as resulting in our Client feeling hemmed-in with no visual relief from the proposed development.
The development would have revoked sunlight from over 50% of the apartments within our Client's building due to numerous design deficiencies.
Determination: Council ultimately agreed with iObject’s evaluation on numerous fronts citing major concerns around the proposal's lack of compliance with the prescribed Urban Design principles, a lack of quality private and public open space, and the restrictions on potential future redevelopment of adjoining sites. Council subsequently refused the application on resulting in a major win for our Client.
What iObject Achieved
iObject prepared a detailed Principal Objection in response to ensure any development would maintain the key characteristics of adjoining properties. The application was presented to a Design Excellence panel and Local Planning panel who subsequently recommended refusal of the application, resulting in a major win for our Client.
