North Sydney Council
Residents can make submissions to North Sydney Council at any time right up until a DA is determined. To ensure full consideration by the assigned council assessment planner, iObject prescribes an additional two to three-week ‘Informal Deadline’, depending on the scale of the project in question.
If there is insufficient time to produce a detailed submission within Council’s notification period, we recommend seeking a deadline extension directly from the council officer, which iObject can negotiate on your behalf.
Submissions must address planning law considerations rather than general opposition.

Impact Risks
Threats posed by the proposed development would have largely eliminated sunlight to numerous habitable rooms, including living areas of our Client’s property. These rooms were devoid of sunlight in the existing scenario meaning any further incursion would result in serious loss of comfort.
Setback protrusions would not provide sufficient building separation, towering over our Client's open space and side-facing windows.
An unbroken side elevation wall created a scale imbalance with the principal building form, resulting in additional building bulk that would have ultimately impose upon surrounding properties.
Determination: Council agreed with many of the concerns raised by iObject, identifying several substantive defects in the proposal that were contrary to our Client’s interests. In particular, the significant loss of sunlight and the excessive proximity of the proposed additions were central issues that ultimately led the Council to refuse the development application.
What iObject Achieved
iObject's detailed Comprehensive Principal Objection and ongoing negotiation with Council to protect our Client’s property. In view of the significant scope of the proposed modifications and the substantive nature of the concerns articulated, Council’s determination represents a highly favourable outcome for our client. It effectively preserves the features, attributes and beauty of their home.
